About Dave
David Burns known as Dave, died on January 20th 2021, age 79,
after a long illness.
The disabled former Athlete raised more than £750,000 for charities
throughout his lifetime, including tough challenges such as climbing
The BIG ONE at the Pleasure Beach and Abseiling the Tower.
He also carried the Olympic Torch in 2012 ahead of the London Summer
Games. Dave was also a devoted Blackpool Football Fan.
Dave was a member of Blackpool Boccia Club for many years, and won
Competitions at Regional and National Competitions. He supported the
Club by fundraising and encouraging and supporting his fellow members.
Dave was a great champion and he is sadly missed by all his friends at
Blackpool Boccia Club.
In special memory of Dave, Blackpool Boccia Club introduced a special award called the Dave Burns Memorial Shield.
